The Rats are a collective of artists and performers with a shared passion for experimental media and collaboration. The Rats are becoming known for the weird shit, performances that flow from scene to scene leaving the audience engaged and excited.

Mandatory Dancing 27.05.22

“The distant future, the year 2023. An authoritarian government has taken power and outlawed all dancing, apart from approved government moves. Do The Rats have what it takes to overthrow the dictator and bring back the boogie?“

The performance started with audiences being imprisoned in a Re-Education Center full of fake news, propaganda and inspiring images of the Evil Dictator. After a rousing speech and a Mandatory Dancing session, the audience was saved by The Resistance and taken back to HQ for freedom dancing. GASP! The Evil Dictator has shown up for an epic final dance battle, fortunately she was defeated!
3 Months Later and we find ourselves in a dimly lit bar, watching a former cop and a former fighter bond over their shared love of dance, and shared love of getting their kit off.

Not a Halloween Show 29.10.21

Twas the eve of Halloween eve and all through The Lab all the creatures were stirring! The Rats took on their most ambitious performance yet, opening with spoken word performances sound tracked live by Clara’s haunting soundscapes, followed by the funky sounds of local legends Neon Tetra, the raw chaotic energy of electronic music guru Skorpion King and brought home by the Lab Rats Family Jam Band. The Rats embraced all things Horror with spooky poetry, gore filled props and costumes and an ode to the history of all things spook.

WET 6.8.21

Responding to a long and cold winter and covid restrictions, the Lab Rats hosted a relaxed night of experimental performance, poetry and art, in love of all things WET.

Life On Mars 15.5.21

The first produced Lab Rats performance was Life On Mars. A mixture of live performance, scripted and improvised acting, visual art and a pre-recorded short film, Life On Mars began on a spaceship floating towards the red planet. Audiences were treated to a calamitous CRASH LANDING before raving on surface to the beats of local musician Ezroh. After a cameo from a little green creature the survivors were abducted to an Alien club to end the night with out of this world, galactic beats!
